Joan Subirats holds a PhD in Economics and is a Professor of Political Science and Researcher at the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He held the Prince of Asturias Chair at Georgetown University during the 2002–2003 academic year. He has published books and articles on governance, public management, and public policy analysis, as well as on issues of democratic innovation, the Internet, and politics. His latest publication is Public Decisions: The Analysis and Study of Decision-Making Processes in Public Policy, co-authored with Bruno Dente and published by Ariel (2014). He contributes to various media outlets such as El País.
